Baby Snuggles

There is something so soothing about sitting in the recliner, rocking with the baby as he falls asleep.  That weight of them relaxing into you and the steadiness of their breathing.  It's especially nice if it's with this baby:

Grandma Denyse's Visit

Forgive me ahead of time for a picture heavy post.  My mom came for a visit and as usual it was action packed.  I'll let the pictures tell most of the story.

We started with some present opening for both of the boys.

Laura had a costume party to go to and went as an airline pilot.

Then we had some nighttime stories with aunt Laura in our new matching pjs.

The next day we had a fun San Antonio day that included a trip to the Japanese gardens, the zoo, and a train ride.  The boys had a blast, but were exhausted.

 

Then we headed to our house and went for a walk/run (Nate was the main runner)

We also made a trip to the Jersey Barnyard in LaGrange for a visit to see the animals, milk a cow and pick out our pumpkins.

Finally we ended the weekend with some pumpkin carving!  Fun weekend!

Busy Life

Life in the Muir household has been busy for the last couple months.  My brother got married just over a month ago and we had a blast at the wedding.  The boys enjoyed playing with all their cousins, and its always nice for me to get to see all my family and friends back home.  Nate did manage to get stuck in a vending machine for toys while we were up there, so there was a little bit of excitement.  If you want to see the video my cousin took of this experience go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Dw3k5RmNJU   Enjoy the video.

The weekend after the wedding TJ's Dad and stepmom came to visit.  The boys had fun with their grandparents playing outside and hanging out in their trailer.  TJ had a good time hanging out with his dad, and we all enjoyed the good food Sue cooked.  TJ's brother Matt and his girlfriend Erin came to visit as well and Nate had a good time as always playing with Erin.

Then I had a bunch of free time with just the boys because TJ was out of town for work.  I enjoy my time with my boys, but it's definitely exhausting. 

TJ's birthday was at the beginning of the month and I made him his favorite pasta e fagioli soup.  I found a recipe that almost exactly replicates Olive Garden's recipe, the only problem being that it made a HUGE pot of soup.  So now I have a freezer full of pasta e fagioli soup and TJ is a very happy man.

Finally, I have been working a ton when TJ is home to try and help pay for all these vacation's we've been taking.  I really enjoy my work, but between my days alone with the boys and work I have been completely exhausted.  Hopefully I can catch up on some rest soon.  It doesn't do for the Mama to be worn out!

Wedding Present

Part of the reason I haven't been able to keep up with my blog is that I have been working on a wedding gift for my brother and his fiance.  It's not done yet, but here's a sneak peek:

Today was Nate's first day of school.  He's going to half-a-day preschool, and he loved it.

The other day T.J. called me on my way home from work.  This was unusual because I had talked to him just a few minutes before.  His call was to tell me that this had happened to my baby:

For those of you not from Texas, those are fire ant bites.  And not just a few fire ant bites, my poor baby had over 50 ant bites on his two feet up to both his knees.

Sadness

Today for the first time ever Nate asked for his Daddy when he got hurt.  He was crying uncontrollably and wanted nothing to do with me.  I was unable to comfort him at all and TJ was working so unavailable to help.  Nate was stuck with me.  The big injury: his first bee sting.

Busy Month

July was an extremely busy month for the Muir clan.  We spent the weekend of the 7th and 8th with one of T.J.'s good friends at their house swimming and hanging out.  The next weekend my sister, Laura, and her boyfriend, Mitch came over for a night.  The big boys went fishing and Laura and I hung out at the house.  Then the big trip arrived, Kabetogama.  This family vacation is a blast for all of us and the boys can't get enough.  I could describe it all in detail, but I'll let the pictures tell the story.

Date Day

My work has been extremely busy for the last week. Last Sunday we converted from paper charting to being entirely on computers. It is awesome, but in an effort to help out during this stressful week (and make some extra cash for upcoming trips) I have worked six of the last eight days. Now you may think no big deal, but those are six twelve hour shifts. With my commute that makes my days at least 14 hours. On my two days off I did stuff around the house on one day, and had a date with this fellow on the other day:

We spent the day running errands (or Erins as Nate calls them), getting haircuts, and going out to eat. Nate was very well behaved, and we had a blast. We ran all these errands on Katy, which Nate insists is his best friend. I had a hard time explaining to him that Katy is a town and not a person. All in all a successful week and date day!

Funny Sayings

I've been home by myself all week and that's always a little trying. So last night after his bath Nate said something that made the week worth it. As I was drying him off he said to me "You're doing a good job Mama."

Beach Fun!

I've been slacking on the blogging front lately.  I've been in a funk and am trying to get out.  I promise to blog more frequently!

A couple weekends ago one of T.J.'s best friends and his family came to visit, along with Laura and Mitch.  We headed to Matagorda beach for a day of fun in the sun and waves.  Nate had a blast, and once he got over his initial fear of the waves, he spent the day conning one of the adults into taking him out in the ocean.  Hudson did not have as good of a day.  Due to an unfortunate sunscreen in the eye issue he spent the day mostly hanging out in the shade.  He still had fun, but spent a lot of the day looking stoned with his eyes half closed.  Mitch probably had the most fun at all.  He spent most of the day fishing in the surf and had some good luck.  I've never seen such a big grin on a grown man's face as when Mitch caught his first fish (two at one time!).  Here's some pictures of the fun:
